High Standards, Exceeding Minimum Requirements
We work closely with, or follow guidelines of, the United States Coast Guard, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, international yachting associations and governing maritime authorities.
Wherever possible, US Coast Guard minimum equipment requirements are upgraded to the superior SOLAS (Safety of Life At Sea) standards of the International Maritime Organization.
Safety standards meet or exceed the Offshore Racing Council’s Special Regulations governing vessel structural features, yacht equipment and personal equipment.
Material and financial support comes from the East Chicago Port Authority, regional foundations, private donations, East Chicago Central High School Guidance Department, and the School City of East Chicago.
